Sunday Notes No. 2
The Discipline of a Slow Morning
A slow morning isn’t laziness. It’s preparation.
There’s a quiet discipline in beginning the day without rushing — allowing the mind to wake up before the world starts asking for things. For years I thought productivity meant starting immediately. Checking messages. Opening the laptop. Moving quickly into the day. But the days that felt best began differently.
Coffee before screens.
A few minutes of stillness.
A moment to look outside instead of down at a phone.
Nothing dramatic. Just space. A slow morning isn’t about doing nothing. It’s about beginning the day on your terms instead of someone else’s. And when you start that way, everything else tends to follow.
The Sunday Idea
How you start the day often determines the tone of the hours that follow. Protect the first few minutes of your morning.
The Ritual
Prepare tomorrow’s morning tonight. Set out what you need:
your coffee cup, your notebook, the book you’re reading.
Make the morning easy to begin well.
This Week’s Recommendation
A beautiful mug you enjoy using every morning. Small objects shape everyday rituals more than we realize.
Until next Sunday,
Beau
P.S. Next week’s note is about something surprisingly powerful: ending a week well.
If this note made you pause today, forward it to a friend who might enjoy Sunday mornings a little more.
